Stephen Leather is a bestselling British thrill writer who has published over thirty books. He is one of the top selling Kindle authors and was the second bestselling UK author worldwide on Kindle in 2011. He has a BSc Degree in Biochemistry from Bath University and previously worked as a biochemist for Imperial Chemical Industries. He has also help positions as a baker, fuel attendant, and quarry worker. Leather moved on to journalism and worked for newspapers such as the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail.
Although Leather had previously attempted to write, he never really managed to create anything of substance. It was not until he was working for the Daily Mirror that he wrote his first novel (The Payoff). His second novel (The Fireman) was written while he was a journalist for the South China Morning Post. Leather had published several novels since that time, and his works took the Amazon Kindle market by storm in 2010.
Seeing the Kindle marked had made eBooks popular, Leather began his Amazon Kindle campaign during Christmas 2010. He realized that many people would be getting Kindles for Christmas and therefore published his books on Kindle. A year later, he was the second best selling UK author on Kindle in the World. He sold more than 500,000 eBooks in 2011 and also received recognition from The Bookseller Magazine as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the UK Publishing World.
Leather has not stopped with publishing novels. He has also become a filmmaker with his writing. He has authored screenplays based on his books and also written numerous television episodes for some of UK’s best shows.
